Internet marketing, also called e-marketing or online marketing, is the marketing and advertising of products and services on the internet. The definition of what it is depends on because there are several jobs within the field. For example, the owners of a manufacturing company may develop a website that advertises their own products. Some advertisers can be hired to provide ways on increasing the popularity of specific products and services. There are internet marketing groups and firms that work by optimizing website content. Some websites earn by advertising other websites.
There are several forms of marketing that utilize the web. One is e-mail marketing that is the direct sending e-mails from the company to the customers. The e-mails contain new offers and products, updates and promos. However, the biggest deal of e-marketing is focused on website development.
The primary tool and object of internet marketing online is the website. A good website displays the image the company wants to show to the public and the message they want to convey. Its web pages must be easy to navigate through and they must completely show the products and services offered by the company. If the site wants the viewers to be directed to other web pages, their links must be visible and placed at strategic spots. Most importantly, for a website to be effective, it needs people to see its content- the internet traffic. Internet traffic is the subject of competition among all the websites.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a very popular internet marketing strategy. SEO explores the more technical aspects of web page design. It is the arrangement of website content and coding so that it will receive high rank positions when displayed by search engines. Referrals of search engines through SEO are free. To contrast, back then, companies simply pay search engines to include them in the search results but they are not guaranteed of high ranks. There are several firms that offer SEO services for other companies.
Other models of e-marketing include blogging, articles and review writing, and pay per click (PPC). There are sites that host blogs for free so many online marketers, many of those just at home, make use of them to advertise products. Many also post their product reviews on blogs, including referral links. In the PPC system, a company hires several sites to host their links in forms of text or images. The hired sites are paid every time the links are visited by surfers. As a summary, all these methods work if the hosting website receives a good amount of visitors.
Internet marketing is practically a web with interdependent sectors, providing equal number of job opportunities- even to those at the comfort of their own home. That makes the internet marketing online business to continue to be a source of good income despite the tough competition. Experience, knowledge and creativity are required to succeed in this field.
Video SEO for Online Video Marketing
Getting traffic for your website isn't easy. Often the wrong kind of traffic lingers on your website and impedes growth of your website. Traffic is essential for surge in sales of your products and services and for that you need the targeted traffic. To achieve this you have to be on the top of the search engine rankings and get first page results or you can pay your way through pay-per-click advertising but if managed poorly pay-per-click advertising can burn a substantial hole into your pockets.
The best way available to rocket your website to improved ranking in search engines so as to draw substantial traffic is by using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tools. This can be achieved by drawing attention of traffic that is actually looking for your keywords. So maintaining the right keywords, their density and the right kind of articles can increase traffic to your webpage in no time at all.
One of the best techniques to optimize your website for increased traffic is to have targeted keyword phrases in the title tag. This immediately draws attention of people and they would definitely stop by your website for a look. The meta description should also have the targeted keyword phrase but you have to remember that the keyword shouldn't be too competitive. Recently Google and other search engines have changed their policies and today you got to have unique and quality content on your websites to achieve first page results. Content that isn't available on any other website would always draw traffic in huge numbers. This would also lead to creating quality back-links to your website.
You must also be careful enough to maintain a fair keyword density without overdoing it because most search engines would hugely penalize you if you use the keywords too often in your content. As far as links are concerned, you should try to anchor text links in the last paragraph on your page as it doesn't take the attention off the main text. You can have a YouTube video link on your webpage along with other affiliate links to draw attention of different people. However, you must remember to cloak all links on your website and get links only from reputable sites. Try and link all images too and put up links that flow with the text and content of your website. Creating a Google site-map might also help you in drawing attention as such a map helps search engines to find all links to your webpage.
The above mentioned tips are only one of the ways that would lead to you to get first page results but there are a number of other ways to get improved search engine rankings which can be learnt at different search engine optimization coaching programs. The most essential point however remains that quality content that is unique draws maximum attention so you should try to achieve content that would eventually lead to more traffic, quality back-links and first page results. Search engine optimization is an amazing way to increase sale of your products and services so use it to your best advantage for better prospects.
The Two Aspects of SEO-Onsite Optimization and Offsite Optimization
So you've built your website, you know what keywords you want to target (i.e. what words your customers are searching for), and you're ready to write your copy. You've been told that you should use your keywords frequently so that you appear in search results for those words. But what does "frequently" mean?
How many times should you use your primary keyword? This case study helps answer that question.
Some background on "Keyword Density"
In order to understand optimum keyword usage, we first need to have some way of measuring keyword frequency. In the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) world, frequency is actually referred to as density. Keyword density is a measure of the number of times your keyword appears on a page expressed as a percentage of the total wordcount of that page. For example, if your page has 100 words, and your keyword phrase appears 5 times, its density is 5%. So when you hear someone say "keyword density", that's normally what they're talking about. (TIP: You can automatically check the keyword density of your page at LiveKeywordAnalysis.com.)
However, there is another, more complex measure of keyword density which takes into account the text components in the HTML of the page (i.e. the meta tags: Title, Keywords, Alt Text, Description, and Comments). When using this measure, you don't just count the words your visitor sees; you also count the words in your meta tags. For example, if you have 100 words on your home page, 10 words in your Title tag, 20 words in your Description tag, 70 words in your Alt tags, and 10 words in your Comments tag, your total wordcount for the page is 100 + 10 + 20 + 70 + 10 = 210. Similarly, when counting keywords, you don't just add up the number of times a visitor will see your keyword, you also count the number of times that keyword appears in your meta tags. For example, if your keyword appears 5 times in the home page copy, 3 times in the Title tag, 5 times in the Description tag, 30 times in your Alt tags, and twice in your Comments tag, your total keyword count is 5 + 3 + 5 + 30 + 2 = 45. So with a total wordcount of 210 and a keyword count of 45, your keyword density is 45/210 x 100 = 21%. It is argued that this measure of keyword density is more relevant as the search engines measure density in this fashion. (TIP: You can automatically check the keyword density of your page using this more complex measure at GoRank.com.)
As you can see, you need to be very aware of which measure you're talking about when you're talking "keyword density". But let me reiterate; mostly when people talk about keyword density, they're talking the simple measure.
What is the optimum keyword density
And now down to business... What keyword density (of either kind) should you be targeting on your website?
There's a lot of debate surrounding this issue because the search engine companies don't disclose the details of their algorithms (as that would allow people to abuse the system). Instead, people working in the SEO world are left to figure it out based on their experience.
A recent article by respected SEO and Blog expert, Wayne Hurlbert, (see Keyword Density: SEO Considerations) suggests that Google sees pages with a keyword density of greater than 2% as spam. It was this article which prompted me to analyze the keyword density of my copywriting website.
The Website: This case study analyzes the website for my advertising copywriting and SEO copywriting business, Divine Write - http://www.divinewrite.com. For my primary keyword, my site is now on page 1 of Google.com (out of approximately 900,000 search results).
Number of pages on site: At the time of writing, my website contained a total of 53 pages.
Primary keyword phrase: "copywriter"
Average keyword density: Using the simple measure of keyword density discussed above, the average keyword density of my copywriting website is 1.9%. Using the complex measure it's 4.9%.
Keyword density range: Using the simple measure, my density ranged from 0.4% to 7.6%. Using the complex measure it ranged from 1.6% to 17.5%
Some comments on the figures
o The figures and corresponding ranking detailed in this case study may not be directly relevant to every site. There's a lot I don't know about the algorithms and there are bound to be other factors at play which I don't know about.
o With regard to Wayne Hurlbert's article, it would seem that he is referring to keyword density as calculated using the simple method discussed above.
o The range figures are noteworthy because they suggest that you don't need to be paranoid about having some pages with a very high density and some with a very low density.
A simple keyword density of 1.9% can be enough for a first page ranking in Google.com (assuming you have enough quality backlinks - see http://www.divinewrite.com/SEOCEO.htm and http://www.divinewrite.com/seoarticles.htm for more information).
Happy SEO writing!
