In the digital world, internet plays a very important role in Search Engine Marketing. The idea of using internet to sell is likely to be the first choice in a marketing business today. Most of businesses in the world have a website as a way to promote their products and services, which means, more websites are built everyday.
Google Places Optimization - Get Listed On Google
Search engine optimization, otherwise known as SEO, can be used in blogging and in other online marketing techniques to drive traffic to any web page of your choice, whether it is a blog, Squidoo lens or a traditional website page.
There are specific ways to ensure that each of these three different types of web presence is optimized to the extent that they will be picked up and listed by the top search engines. The biggest by far is Google with 65%, followed by Yahoo and then MSN, so it makes sense to optimize your web page for the Google algorithms.
An algorithm is a sequence of procedures for carrying out a statistical mathematical computation that ends up, in the case of Google and other search engines, with a list of web pages indexed in order of relevance to specific keywords, or search terms, used by search engine users to find out information.
All search engine listings for specific keywords are based upon these algorithms, that take many different aspects of the web page into account, and although only a few Google employees on a 'need to know' basis understand the factors involved, and the weightings that are given to each, we can work out some of the more important of them, although there are believed to be over 200 aspects of a web page that contribute to its listing position.
IMPORTANT SEO FACTORS
1. Title Tag
The title tag is generally regarded as the one most important factor in determining your listing position.
A simple change in the use of keywords in your title tag can dramatically change your listing position. You MUST use your main keyword for the page in your title tag, but the other text used within it can make a lot of difference.
The Title tag appears with in the HEAD tags of the page HTML, and therefore doesn't actually appear on the page. It is visible to spiders only, and is a means of you telling the search engine spiders what your page is about. You must then use the keywords contained in the title tag in the body of your text, and in any headings and subheadings. Basically the title tag sets the theme that you must continue in the text that your readers actually see.
2. H1 Heading Tags
The H1 heading tag conveys a lot of weighting to the text within the tag.
The heading of your page should be within H1 tags, but do not make your heading exactly the same as the page title. Make it close, but not as extensive. For example, if your web page is dedicated to the use of articles as a marketing technique, your page Title tag (visible only to spiders) could be 'Article Marketing and Article Writing Techniques' while your main page heading (visible to spiders and readers) could be 'Article Writing Techniques', contained with H1 HTML tags, and in Bold and underlined. You could then have another heading using the keyword 'Article Marketing'.
3. Use of Keywords
You have set the keyword theme with your Title and H1 heading tags.
You must now continue that theme with the text on your page. Good SEO books explain in detail how best to use keywords and how to structure your entire website to attract the attention of search engine spiders and of human visitors, and an article such as this cannot do the topic justice.
It is enough to say that the three major ways for you to inform search engine spiders of the theme of your web page is by means of your Title tag, H1 heading tags and your use of keywords on your page. All three of these should focus on one or two keyword, and if done properly will go a long way towards securing you a top 10 listing for your keyword on Google.
SEO Bounce Rate - Does Bounce Rate Affect My Rankings?
Internet marketing is a must in today's world if you have a business. If you have a business you must have a website to be competitive, and if you have a website-you must be doing your fair share of internet marketing. Let's take a closer look at SEO vs. SEM:
Search Engine Marketing can apply to two aspects of internet marketing. The first aspect is internet marketing as a whole, can be referred to as search engine marketing-that is-finding the best way to reach your market dependent upon what they search for in the search engines-typically Google, MSN, and Yahoo. Secondly, search engine marketing refers to the highly manipulated aspect of marketing through the search engines. Examples of what is SEM can be everything from "sponsored listings" on search engine results pages to pay per click campaigns (where advertisers bid on how much they will pay per customer click through to their sites for a good location in the search results of a particular keyword). The upside to SEM is that it can give positive results almost instantaneously, while the downside remains that you have to-in most cases-pay dearly for this.
Search Engine Optimization, on the other hand, is the more natural means of marketing through the search engines. Instead of blatantly manipulating the search engines to a get a good rank, purveyors of SEO use different tactics to optimize their websites and their relationship to the internet world in order to be ranked better in search results. Good examples of this include: keyword implementation, article submission, blog writing, link building, etc. The upside to SEO is that it requires much less of an investment and can be done without the search engines' knowledge-thus saving the site from being banned.
The Two Aspects of SEO-Onsite Optimization and Offsite Optimization
Search engine optimization, which is frequently referred to as SEO, is the process of increasing the amount and quality of traffic generated to a website or other Internet based property from search engines' natural/organic ranking results for specific words called keywords. For this article, I will use the term website to refer to all Internet based properties.
The popularity and importance of search engine optimization is based primarily on the fact that statistical data has proven time and time again that the higher a website is ranked in search engine ranking results, the more likely the chance that individuals will click the website link and visit the website.
Moreover, marketing research has shown over the past decade that the quality of visitors that search engines deliver to websites traditionally ranks as the best or one of the best sources of traffic for websites in relation to website conversions for sales, signups or other marketing goals set for websites.
The term SEO in relation to search engine optimization is also used at times to refer to search engine optimizers, who are consultants that mange and facilitate the development and completion of search engine optimization projects for their clients. Also, these individuals can be employees who conduct SEO projects in-house for their employers.
Search engine optimizers may provide their services strictly for search engine optimization or as part of a package, which includes other marketing services.
In general, SEO was created as a method of improving websites' search engine ranking results. Moreover, at the core of conducting search engine optimization, there are two general methods used to optimize websites, which are on-site and off-site optimization.
As the terms imply, on-site optimization involves using techniques that are focused directly on the website and off-site optimization involves aspects that effect a website that are not directly on the website.
The reason why search engine optimization has a noticeable effect of improving a website's rankings is because all search engines have at the core of their existence a computer program, which is called an "algorithm". This program manages to a large degree almost all the various operations of search engines.
Thus, SEO is used by individuals and businesses to optimize websites for search engine ranking results based on either perceived or actual knowledge pertaining to the functions, directions, retrieved website data and instructions utilized by search engine algorithms to determine a website's search engine ranking for keywords or keyword phrases.
What makes search engine optimization very challenging is the fact that every search engine has an algorithm that was created specifically for its own search engine; so each algorithm is unique and ranks websites using different criteria and factors and/or places various levels of importance on the criteria and factors.
Moreover, search engines are very protective of their algorithms; so all aspects of the algorithms' operations are tightly guarded. Therefore, the algorithms are always being changed from time to time to prevent anyone from trying to determine the exact or close to the exact factors and criteria used to rank websites in their ranking results.
The better an individual can evaluate how search engine algorithms determine their search engine ranking results and can utilize search engine optimization to optimize websites based on his or her evaluation findings, the better the likelihood of the individual being able to improve a website's rankings through the use of search engine optimization.
